Terror-rariums - a bathroom delight

So we are thinking about recreating a scene from the 1959* cinematic version of Journey to the Centre of the Earth as a terrarium in an alcove above our bath in our planned bathroom.

Reg purchased three terrariums (I can totally type this word but when I try to say it, it sounds like 'terrytrrarams') for me for Christmas, which are truly excellent. They are of the hanging type and will take centre stage in our kitchen.

This new trilogy of plant forms has inspired the larger terrarium, so I have been in contact with our terrarium superstar pals at Bosky who make these babies to order.

Patrick from Bosky has recommended a fern and moss style terrarium for the wet area and all I need to do is supply Mr Patrick with specs and a theme. Yessssssssssssssssssssss!

My favourite question to be asked EVER is: What theme would you like to go with Ali?

I choose Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Think of all the little creatures and props we can include. Maybe even a fake snake, some rocks perhaps and even a waterfall backdrop? Plus, we can't forget the fire core.

Bathtime will be so much fun.

If you have any ideas as to what we can add to the Journey to the Centre of the Terrarium, please add them in the comments below.

And if you are getting rid of a hexagonal terrarium aka circa 1972 such as the one below, please let me know as I'm looking for a centre piece for our table.

With love,
Ali

*Brendan Fraser will NEVER have a place in our home.

Oh, and a quick update on the build. This week is all about digging holes for the new stumps. We have a third tradie on the job, a quiet young man by the name of Hayden.
There's still a bit of head scratching going on about the hearth that is holding up the house. Stay tuned and remember, home is where the hearth is.
